Happy ICLW August

August... really? Wow, this summer flew by! Happy ICLW to new and old readers. My name is Liz and I just turned 28 a few weeks ago. We have been TTC for 15 months but seeing a RE just about the whole time. Our journey started with a diagnosis of PCOS and a huge cyst on my left fallopian tube that I ended up getting 2 laparopscopic surgeries for. The first time we drained it but then it returned a few months later and I ended up losing my left tube with the second surgery.

In January I became pregnant but that pregnancy ended in a miscarriage at 8 weeks (only measured 6 weeks). After that we tried 2 IUI's but were unsuccessful so moved on to IVF. I did my first IVF cycle in July and wasn't able to transfer the embryos due to fluid in my uterus the day of transfer. We froze the 5 embryos on day 3 and tried a FET in August. A few days before the scheduled transfer we again saw fluid. Most recently I had an endometrial biopsy to try to determine the cause of the fluid. I haven't gotten the complete results yet but it appears like it will involve more complications and delays.

Outside of IF treatments I work with young children and love my job. My hubby graduated in May and we recently became a DINK family (dual income, no kids). We have 3 fantastic fur babies that keep us occupied and entertained.

I like to ask readers questions for ICLW and also answer them, so here goes:

When you have 30 minutes of free-time, how do you pass the time?
On my phone or computer cruising the internet.

What did you do growing up that got you into a lot of trouble?
Everything and anything. The biggest ones? Sneaking out of the house and being a smart ass.

Have you ever had something happen to you that you thought was bad but turned out to be for the best? This didn't happen to me personally but my hubby tore his ACL skiing. He loved physical therapy so much he chose it as a career path. You never know when a big mistake will turn out to be a blessing in disguise.

What is your first memory of being really excited?
I remember getting a new bike for Christmas when I was about 5 and then riding it into the lake we lived on.

Also, if you are visiting and leave a comment, please leave me your blog address so I can come visit.

  1. Hi Liz, what a crazy journey you have been on. Sorry to hear of all the complications and delays. I hope they find the issue with the fluid in uterus quickly and you are on your way to your FET. Hoping for the best for you guys!

  2. What a crappy journey!
I like your questions, but do not seem to have answers for most of them but shall try!
    1) spare time.. whats that?!? I tend to surf the next, catch up on blogs, watch TV and crochet baby blankets!
    2) Growing up.. as far as my parents are concerned I was an angel, but I went through a rebel stage of drinking a lot and smoking a
    lot!
3)I am struggling to think of all of my shit that I have been through and what has been for the better... I guess the obvious one would be meeting my DH, I was planning on chickening out of the date that was set up for me by my BF 11 years ago but we it all worked out amazingly!
4)Being excited.. certainly not my first memory, but when I found out I had passed my exams to get into veterinary school!

Doing something non-productive on my computer.

What did you do growing up that got you into a lot of trouble?
I was the pickiest eater ever and hated all meats. So anytime my mom would make me eat meat, I would hide it: in my napkin, on my sisters plate, in the sink, in the garbage,in a draw, even in my pockets! Let’s just say my mom found some unexpected surprises around the house too many times.

Have you ever had something happen to you that you thought was bad but turned out to be for the best?
When my husband (boyfriend at the time) broke up with me. I was so upset at the time, but we were both so young and looking back I’m so glad he did. We never would have made it; I had so much living to do, like going away to college. Luckily, we ran into each other a few years later and one thing led to another…..

What is your first memory of being really excited?
When I was 3 ½ I was in my mom’s wedding. I loved wearing my princess dressed and was so excited to be getting a new dad.

  5. Hi Liz,

I am Kim from The Ladies in Waiting Book Club stopping by for ICLW. :o) It's nice to meet you!

If I have 30 minutes of free time, I'm usually on the internet. Also, I'm a big fan of the cat nap. :o)

I was a pretty good kid and didn't really get into a lot of trouble. When I was really young, I used to run around my yard in search of dinosaur bones. I'd dig up EVERYTHING. I once dug up our grumpy neighbors security system when I was 8. Busted. Big time.

I am a teacher... I had a student who was famous around the entire school for being the "worst". Everyone knew him by name. Everyone. And he was mine... for TWO years. We learned to get along with each other, learn with each other, and eventually really bonded. It's because of him, I believe, that I earned the Teacher of the Year Award for our county that second year. Thanks, Blaine! ;o)

My first memory of being really excited was going to Disney World for the first time. I was really young and we got to go on a plane. :o) I remember it was magical.

  6. Hi from ICLW!

    1. 30 min: nap! I love naps. But I'm not so good at the waking up part, I've been known to go take a nap at 4 pm and not wake up until the next day. lol

    2. My mouth got me into trouble. At school, I'd always have my name on the board for talking too much.

    3. Something that was bad...um...well, I would guess the whole PCOS diagnosis. It has changed my outlook on life. Most definitely I am more patient and positive, because if I were only negative I'd be dead by now!

    4. My first memory of being really excited was when I thought I could fool my little brother into fitting into a suitcase so that he could go on vacation with my parents without them knowing. Cut to me locking the lock, and my parents having to bust him out with a hammer. OOPS!

  7. I sure hope you can transfer those embies soon!
! I'll try to answer some of your questions: 1)usually blogging/networking 2)Growing up I did the sneaking out thing too...3) I'm not sure about this one. I guess my infertility because it brought me my kids and because I got into the ALI community with my blog (http://stressfreeinfertilityblog.com) and I'm so glad to meet such amazingly strong women. 4) I think getting my bike on Christmas has to be a pretty strong memory of excitement. I think I was 7.
Stopping by from ICLW! (#52) and just added your link and now following!

  8. Hi Liz: Hope you get that FET soon! As for the questions: 1.Sleep!2. Big mouth and crazy adventures with friends. 3. Applying to a local university in June, getting in, then declining scholarships to 3 FLA universities, then telling my parents about it all. Yikes! But I met hubby that way! 4. Gosh. I am apparently too old to remember first memory of excitement. HOw lame!
