This morning I went in early for my second beta and to repeat my immune panel. I had taken a test last night despite saying I was not going to test for a bit. The dark line that appeared quite quickly gave me a lot more confidence than I had been feeling. Monday and Tuesday were spent being terrified about whether the number would double or not.
I had to wait until almost 2:00 before today's number was posted on the portal.
The news is amazing! My number jumped from 185.5 to 433.4. That equals a doubling time of 38.8 hours. I've never had a second beta number double, so this was really great news.
I'm debating trying to get an ultrasound locally next week rather than waiting until 6 weeks to do one at Br.averman's office. I'm not even sure if my old clinic would do one for me if I requested.
Today we are able to breathe a huge sigh of relief. I'm so grateful and excited. We plan to use a gift certificate for a local fine dining restaurant this weekend to celebrate the great news. We've only been holding on to it for a year and a half, waiting for this moment to be able to use it.

ReplyDeleteLiz!!!! How happy was *I* to come online today and read this and your last post!!! I know there's still a long way to go, but so so so many congratulations on reaching this point! I am so happy that you have crossed this awesome hurdle, the doubling beta. Enjoy your celebratory meal this weekend ;)
ReplyDeleteThis is so fantastic!!! I am so happy for you guys. You deserve this more than anyone I know! :) There 's a long road to a take home baby but this is surely a great start!
ReplyDeleteLiz!!! I've been waiting so long to hear all this happy news for you!!! I am so excited for you! The time has come girlie! This is one special baby! Yeah preggo lady!
ReplyDeleteIt's a little unsettling to get an ultrasound before 6 weeks, or earlier. My re didn't hear a hb or see a fetal pole so we had to wait until 7 and it was the most miserable wait of my life. Everything was fine and it will be for you too, but that really scared me and had me sick with nerves for a week.
Enjoy your celebration dinner! Don't forget to check the fishes you can eat, no soft cheeses, etc, etc, haha! Be sure to order a fancy mocktail to toast with!!
I agree with Lanie, as hard as it is to wait for that first ultrasound, you will be SO much more worried when you don't see the heartbeat because its too early. Those are some pretty awesome beta numbers! I am so happy for you. Enjoy your dinner celebration!
ReplyDeleteI love it!!!! Just to throw some confidence your way...your numbers are very similar to what mine were.... And I'll be 19 weeks tomorrow!!! So happy for you!!!
ReplyDeletethat is awesome news! enjoy the joys of doubling n umbers!!!
ReplyDeleteYAHOO!!!!! What WONDERFUL news about the beta!
ReplyDeleteI second the ladies above - WAIT for the u/s. Our first one was 6w4d, and even then they cautioned us that it might be too early to see a HB. If we had gone it and not seen a fetal pole and/or HB b/c it was too early, it still would have crushed me. It's another 2ww, but IMO, it's worth the wait! Hang in there lady - you're PREGNANT!!!
Getting an early ultrasound won't help. Until you're far enough along to see a heartbeat it won't tell you much. With my daughter my betas did a lot of wonky things, not doubling, not doubling again, then more than doubling, so they thought it may be ectopic and had me come in early. It was nervewracking! You are pregnant and everything is going great. Try and enjoy the moment.
ReplyDeleteOh Liz!!!!!!! I am so excited and happy for you!! Congratulations on an awesome 2nd beta! I would be just as anxious as you to get to the first u/s! Sending you lots of prayers!!
ReplyDeleteWoot Woot...amazing news!!
ReplyDeleteYay!!!!! Enjoy your yummy dinner :)
ReplyDeleteYay for doubling numbers!!!
ReplyDeleteCongrats!! I am so happy for you guys!!
ReplyDeleteCongrats!!! So happy for you!
ReplyDeleteAWESOME BETA!!! And I agree with the others, wait on the ultrasound.. at 6w5d, we saw the hb and I was still a nervous wreck.. It was 110bpm, so if we had gone earlier, we wouldn't have seen a hb, I'm sure of it.. Just breathe and celebrate that you are pregnant! WOOHOO!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the awesome beta!! Enjoy your celebratory dinner!! You deserve it!!

ReplyDeleteYes yes yes!! I am SO thrilled for you.
ReplyDeleteI just want to say YAYYYYYYYYYY!!!!! again :) :) Keep me updated, lady!
ReplyDeleteBtw-I think whether you ask for an earlier u/s depends on you. At Dr. K's clinic, they have you come in around 5 1/2 weeks and tell you before even doing the u/s that you may not see anything and that is OK. However, with both babies, I saw the gestational sac and yolk sac--even though I had much lower HCG numbers than you have with this last one. So I say go for the u/s as long as you don't think you will get freaked out by not seeing much. You definitely won't see a heart beat that early.
