34 Weeks

I've been meaning to write this post for some time now. Although I'm 35 + 4 now, hitting 34 weeks was a huge milestone for me. 34 weeks is the most pregnant I've ever been. On Tuesday, September 3rd, 2013 I delivered my twins girls at exactly 34 weeks. 

As this milestone approached I felt myself getting more and more anxious. The crib still wasn't painted or assembled, the dresser was still in the garage, and all of the wall art was sitting in the "baby's room" on the floor. On top of that, I was planning and crafting for the girls' birthday party. I tried to explain to W how nervous this was all making me, and eventually he got the idea. By my 34 week date we had a crib assembled with bedding, a dresser in the room, and most of the wall art up. I was feeling so much better about things. 

Even though I know most babies don't come that early, I was still super anxious about hitting (and crossing) the 34 week mark. 

Tomorrow I will see my OB to get instructions on my switch from Lovenox to Heparin at 36 weeks. I never made it to that point last pregnancy, and it's a huge step towards (hopefully) having my VBAC. The lovenox was the reason I had to be under general anesthesia for the birth of the girls. I started weekly appointment and will have another ultrasound next week. 

To me, 34 weeks was a huge milestone that needed to be celebrated (despite all of the anxiety it came with). I'm so grateful every day to still be pregnant, even though it's not always the most glamorous thing. It's funny I was worried about having a preemie for so long and now that I'm almost past that point I'm hoping I don't have to worry about going a lot past my due date. It's amazing how your perspective can change so quickly. 

Things are Changing Quickly

Lucy got her 2 bottom teeth in the past 24 hours. Yesterday I felt the bottom right front tooth and this morning the other front one had come through. She was amazingly well and didn't complain much. You can just barely see and feel them, but they are there. So, we will be celebrating their first birthday with teeth all around! So far they both have the bottom2. Clara's have really started to come in and I noticed the other night that she's learning to bite with them. 

Clara also started really crawling the past few days. She's been so close for so long and now she's officially on the go. I feel badly that Lucy is stuck in a cast while her sister is able to move and explore so much more. I've been debating making a referral for a physical therapy eval for when she gets the cast off. Both girls aren't exactly advanced physically and I know it wouldn't hurt. I'm thinking she might qualify if she hasn't yet relearned some things she was doing prior. 

We also have an appointment scheduled for an ENT next week for Clara. Her upper frenulum on her top lip is very tied. I want to get it looked at because I don't want it to affect her dentition. So, we'll see how that goes.

 Lots of exciting changes around here!

Chompers

We have a tooth! It's only taken 11 1/2 months, but yesterday Clara's bottom left tooth popped through her gums. 

I feel like I'm been on tooth watch for weeks and I even joked I had "baby tooth envy" to my friends. 

I'm sure it's not that exciting to anyone else, but it made my day! 

Christening

This past weekend we celebrated the baptism of Lucy and Clara. It was a beautiful day spent with lots of friends and family. The girls are lucky to have so many people that love them. 

Sitting

In the past week and a half the girls went from sitting for short periods or with support to bring able to sit for long periods completely unsupported. 

It's so much fun to have sitting babies. The girls have been getting their baths together in the tub and they love splashing together. They are interacting more with each other. My girls are growing and changing so fast. 

The last picture is them on their "naked time" blanket. I bought waterproof fabric for one side and sewed this blanket for them. If they pee it doesn't go through onto the carpets. They LOVE hanging out naked!!

Rolling

IAll day yesterday Lucy was trying to move. I'd put her down one way on her back and return to the room a few minutes later to find her turned around facing another direction. 

She was moving by arching her back and scooting her butt. When W got home from work yesterday we were hanging out with the girls. I wanted to show him how Lucy was scooting. She managed to work her way off the blanket and half way across the room. I started to go downstairs to grab something when I heard W call my name and tell me to come. 

I came back in the room and saw that Lucy was on her tummy back in the middle of the room. W said he put Clara in the bumbo and turned around to find Lucy on her tummy. She had rolled over for the first time and we both missed it. 

I am so not ready for a baby on the move.
